In years past, you wouldn't think of swimming in the murky brew we call Manhasset Bay. Pollution and low oxygen levels nixed most of the fishing, too. But recent clean-up campaigns may be yielding results, according to a local environmental official.

Port rolls Over Huntington, 59-38
Port pulls record even at one on fast-break running, precision passing, and timely shooting to overtake Huntington, 59-38. Quentin Dumpson led the Port attack with 23 points off jumpers and put-backs. The Vikings showed more efficiency with their ball movement and were careful not to over-dribble as they moved the ball up and down the court with great alacrity and finesse. After Huntington got off to a fast start, Port displayed maturity by maintaining composure and outrunning the Blue Devils.

Rein Lumi Scholarship Being Established at Schreiber
The Rein Lumi Scholarship is being established by friends and family, classmates and business associates to honor the memory of Rein Lumi, a student/athlete graduate of Schreiber High School, Class of 1958. The scholarship will recognize the best all-around athlete across multiple sports. The award recipient must have participated in at least two varsity sports during his/her senior year, with a preference for three. Each year, the Rein Lumi Athletic Award will go to the best all-around athlete based on the teaching staff's suggestion.
