On the Bay
The Port Washington YC hosted the 4th Annual Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 7, a competition that is both a sailing regatta and charity fundraising event. Prior to the regatta, crews of registered yachts raise money for leukemia research, a disease that is the number one killer of children. The crew that raises the most donations wins the Leukemia Cup itself. This year, Jay Campbell, owner/skipper of Matriarch, won the Cup. Campbell and crew raised approximately $6,500 for the society, which represents a substantial portion of the $14,000 total donated.
