Eugene Lawrence Brew, age 73, died June 6, 2000 in Denver, Colorado. He was born Feb. 4, 1927, the oldest of four boys to Dewitt (Dolly) and Gertrude (Cuomo) Brew. His parents and grandparents were also born in Port Washington. Gene was a radio operator during WWII aboard the USS Oregon City, the flagship for the Atlantic Fleet. Following the war he attended the Citadel, in Charleston, SC and George Washington University before marrying Betty Jane Oswald, also of Port Washington in 1950. He then became an insurance broker and retired in 1984 to Colorado. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Lorraine (Lauri) Brew of Virginia and Eugene Lawrence Brew, Jr. of North Carolina, one grandson, Miles and two brothers, James Brew and Walter Brew of Port Washington. One other brother Jack Brew is deceased. A graveside ceremony was held at Nassau Knolls cemetery, July 3.

Katherine Louise Dell, (nee) Rapp, a longtime resident of Port Washington, Manhasset and Bayville, NY died on June 29, 2000 in Stroudsburg, PA. Beloved wife of the late Sullivan Thomas Dell. Beloved sister of Ethel Ferrisi and the late Thomas Rapp. Beloved mother of Joseph, James, Patricia, Diana and Thomas. Survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Fairchild & Sons Funeral Home in Manhasset. Burial at Nassau Knolls Cemetery on July 3 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lutheran Church of our Savior, 12 Franklin Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050.

Rita J. Moran, age 74, of Port Washington, died on July 5, 2000. Rita was the beloved wife of John J. Moran. She was the loving mother of John K. Moran, Megen Moran and the late Thomas J. Moran. She is survived by her sisters Anne Quinlan, Mary Kelly and Theresa Kelly. She was predeceased by her brother, Father John J. Kelly and her sister, Sister Margaret Kelly. A Mass was held at St. Peter of Alcantara. Interment followed at Nassau Knolls Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Austin F. Knowles, Inc., Port Washington.

Mary V. Warren, 90, a five-year resident of Millbrook and formerly of Port Washington, died Thursday, July 6, 2000 at Sharon Health Care Center, Sharon, CT.

Mrs. Warren was a homemaker and a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Port Washington, and St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Lithgow. Also, she was a member of North Writing Chapter NSDAR and Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society of Port Washington.

Born on April 4, 1910 in Queens, she was the daughter of Charles and Helene Fitzgerald Vosburgh. She graduated from Jamaica High School.

She married Meredith L. Warren on April 24, 1935 in Queens. Mr. Warren died March 7, 1988.

Survivors include two daughters, Priscilla Moody, Hoboken, NJ. and Mary-Leslie Holland, Glens Falls; two grandchildren, Sarah Holland, Syracuse, and Meghan Holland, Glens Falls.

She was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Vosburgh and a grandson, Brian Moody.

There are no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, July 15, in Allen Lounge at The Fountains, Flint Road, Millbrook, with the Rev. Edward Johnston officiating.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Patrick J. Cummings, Jr., in his 52nd year, of Port Washington passed away on June 16, 2000 after a brief illness of melanoma liver cancer. Dearly beloved husband of Kelly (nee Stuart). Most precious and beloved son of Dorothy Whalen of Port Washington and the late Patrick Cummings Sr. of Northport, NY. Most beloved brother of Howard Cummings of New Hyde Park, NY; Kenneth Cummings, Sharon Verity, and Kathleen Whalen all of Port Washington. Much loved brother-in-law of Judi Cummings of New Hyde Park, Beatriz Cummings of Port Washington, and Greg Shunick of Manhattan. Dearest father of Stacey Cummings and Patrick (Joe) J. Cummings III of Southhampton, and Carolyn Cummings of Burlington, VT. Grandest PopPop of Danielle Verity of Port Washington; Amy, Jason, and Christopher of Burlington, VT; and Sarah, Paul, Travis, and Meghan of Southampton, NY. Beloved uncle of Lorraine and Robert Klein of North Carolina, and Glen Verity of Southampton. Beloved nephew of Grace Stoddard of Nesconset, NY. Also leaves a host of many wonderful friends and relatives. Pat loved fishing and captaining his boat the LT docked in Manhasset Bay. He was a longtime member of the Manhasset Bay Sportsman Club and the Steppingstone Yacht Club. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the "Save the Long Island Sound Foundation, 70 Vondran Street, Huntington Station, NY 11746.
