The election will be held on Tuesday, June 20 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Manorhaven Village Hall.
51st Blessing of the Fleet
The Manhasset Bay Fleet has had a proper start into the new century. On a glorious June morning, the 3rd, members of the clergy blessed an estimated 450 men, women, and children, and one Dalmation, passing the Town Dock on 87 craft. Prayers were offered for the safety of watercraft and all embarked now and in days to come. The clegy also looked back and asked special remembrance for all the members of our Armed Forces who have given their lives in our country's wars. From the Revolution through Vietnam, deaths from battle, accident, and disease have totaled an estimated 1,290,000.
On the Bay
Glorious sunny skies and good wind greeted sailors on Manhasset Bay over the weekend of June 10-11. On Saturday, 21 Sonars competed in the Sonar Long Island Sound Championships, which were held on the Sound, west of Execution Rock and outer Manhasset Bay, and hosted by Manhasset Bay YC. Sue Miller, event chairperson, and John Barry, PRO (Principle Race Officer), awarded prizes to the top three finishers at the Awards Dinner following the day's competition.
