At home on Wednesday, May 3, the Schreiber Varsity Lacrosse Team squared off against Long Beach. The Vikings had the confidence instilled in them by a 6-0 league record going into this game against Long Beach, who had a 5-1 record. The first quarter of this game started out slow, but in the last three minutes, senior Edmond Perry scored the game's first goal off a long bounce shot which found its way over the shoulder of the opposite goalie.
The second quarter started out with two quick goals, the first by Long Beach and the next by Port senior David London. Play continued back and forth throughout most of the quarter, with each team putting up strong defense and nailing some big hits. With just over two minutes left in the first half, Port junior Spencer Bodner scored off a bounce shot from the side of the goal. Long Beach added a final goal to the quarter, scoring in the last minute to make the score 3-2 at the end of the first half.
London scored his second of three goals to start off the scoring in the second half. London scored off a pass from senior Nat Francis. The remainder of the third quarter went scoreless, but Port's goalie Nick Dello-Iacono made many very impressive saves. The final goal of the game was scored by London, with three minutes left. This game gave the Vikings an impressive 7-0 record and puts them in first place.
