Nat Francis, a senior at Schreiber High School, was selected as the 1999 Gatorade New York High School Boys Soccer Player of the Year. As a state winner, Nat becomes a member of the prestigious Gatorade Circle of Champions and qualifies for consideration at the national level. Nat was nominated for this award by Roger Winter, the varsity soccer coach at Schreiber.
Nat has been a soccer player for most of his life. He is a senior at Paul D. Schreiber High School and will attend Penn State. His GPA is 3.65 and SAT score is 1330. Nat plays midfield for the Vikings and his performance this season has earned him All-American recognition. Nat also received the Ralph Whitney Award for soccer. He was selected for the All State First Team, All Region Two Team and All County in Nassau for the second year. He has been captain of the team for the '98 and '99 season. As a Select Soccer Player, he was a member of the 1999 Empire State Team that won the gold medal. In the spring he played varsity lacrosse and received the Unsung Hero Award for 1998. Summer finds him working as a pool attendant and dockhand.
