We are asking everyone who uses Middle Neck Road to please come to the Public Hearing at the Village Hall of Sands Point on Tibbets Lane on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. to oppose the mayor's plan to create a new entrance from Middle Neck Road into Thayer Lane. This plan would create another dangerous intersection in the middle of six turning points from Middle Neck Road.
The traffic engineer who did the traffic study never asked any of us who live on Middle Neck Road how hard it is to exit our driveways or to enter our driveways from the south on Middle Neck Road. It is sometimes impossible! We see traffic backed up on Middle Neck Road every day. A new entrance from Middle Neck Road into Thayer Lane would have to cause more traffic congestion because southbound cars would have to stop behind cars waiting to turn left across northbound traffic and into Thayer Lane.
We have seen many accidents on Middle Neck Road over the years. To add another dangerous intersection is irresponsible and inconsiderate of the wishes of residents of Port North, The Terrace, Middle Neck Road and Forest Drive, and of the fire chief of Port Washington who states that a Thayer Lane entrance into Middle Neck Road could cause a very dangerous situation.
Please come to the hearing Jan. 25 to oppose the Thayer Lane proposal.
