Giovannina Bicchetti (nee Caprariello), 85, of Port Washington, died on Nov. 17, 1999. Wife of the late Pasquale. Mother of Carmine and Antonio Bicchetti and Carmela Iannelli. Grandmother of nine. Great-grandmother of 11. Also survived by a sister and brother.

She came here from Nusco, Italy in 1962 to join her son Carmine Bicchetti who was already a citizen and a resident of Port Washington. Then her other two children, Carmela and Antonio followed. She became a citizen of the US. She sought and obtained employment at Blasucci Brothers as a seamtress. She also worked for Harben Electronics for several years. The last job she worked at was Thompson Industries from which she retired in 1974. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and a member of the Port Washington Columbiettes. She spent her remainaing years with her family which she enjoyed.

Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery.

Montroville F. "Monte Smith, 83, of Benicia, CA, passed away recently after a long illness. He was born in Port Washington and lived there until moving to Benecia four years ago. Monte was a veteran of WWII, serving for the duration of the war from 1939-1945. He was involved with D-Day, Battle of the Bulge and was discharges as a warrant officer.

Monte worked as a sargent with the Port Washington Police Dept. for more than 18 years before retiring in 1963. He was a member of the NYS Retired Police Association, Disabled American Veterans, VFW #1819 or Port Washington and #3928 of Benicia.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Marie of Benecia; daughter Lynne Forthuber of Benicia; sister Minnerva Stockbine-Reiner of Oxnard, CA; brother Robert Smith of Windsor, VT; and grandchildren Gregory, Russell and Chelsea Forthuber; nephews Douglas Stockbine and David Smity, Robert Smith Jr. and niece Kim Smith. He was predeceased by his nephew Robert Stockbine.

Service private. Cremation and arrangements under the direction of the Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia.

Terrell Clifford Marbut, of Sands Point, passed away Dec. 8, 1999. He was 91 years old and had lived in Sands Point since 1951. Cliff Marbut was born on Jan. 29, 1908 in Lithonia, GA. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1928 majoring in business administration and then went to work for General Motors where he continued to work until his retirement in 1974.

He married Katherine Lott of Waycross, GA, in 1935 annd lived in Atlanta for several years where their first child, Katharine Laura, was born on Sept. 14, 1939.

When WWII broke out, Cliff was transferred to Detroit to help in General Motors' wartime production of trucks and tanks. He and his family lived in Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, until 1951. Their son, Clifford Daniel, was born in 1948.

In 1951 Clifford was transferred to the Overseas Division of General Motors in NYC. He retired as assistant comptroller of that division in 1974.

During the years in Port Washington, Cliff became involved in many organizations, serving as a member of the board of directors of Planned Parenthood of NC, participating in a number of Port Washington Play Troupe productions and teaching Sunday School at the Congregational Church in Manhasset. He especially enjoyed bowling with friends at the local lanes, devoting great efforts to the flower and fruit patches in his garden and raising his family in Sands Point.

In addition to his widow, Katharine Lott Marbut and their children, Katharine Marbut Ullman of Sands Point and Clifford Daniel Marbut of NYC, Mr. Marbut is survived by four grandchildren, Laura Ullman Schwartz of Port Washington, Susan Katharine Ullman of Madison, WI, Valerie Ullman Taylor of of Port Washington and Frank Clifford Ullman of Washington, DC, and five great-grandchildren, Scott Schwartz, Ryan Schwartz and Brittany Taylor of Port Washington and Kira Ullman and Derek Levinson of Madison, WI.

A memorial service was held on Dec. 12.

Cliff will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
