After having many of the games scheduled for the week of Oct. 4 canceled due to the scheduled spraying of pesticides, Schreiber's athletic teams faced a week filled with challenges.

The boys started their week with an away game on Oct. 13 against rival Syosset. There has always been an intense rivalry between Port and Syosset, and it only intensified when Syosset narrowly defeated Port in last season's county final. I this game, however, things would go in the Vikings favor. Port started the scoring in the first five minutes of the game when Nat Francis scored off a pass from Jason Myers. The Vikings followed up this goal with one by Mario Lavacca, who headed a corner kick from Brian Dermody into the goal. Stephan Orloff headed in a pass from Francis to give Port a 3-0 lead. In the second half, Viking Paul Zentko scored the final goal of the game when he scored from 18 yards out off a feed from Orloff. Port's goalie, Alvaro Orellana, made three saves to give them their second shutout against Syosset, their second straight win and a 9-0-1 record.

The Vikings played their next game at home on Friday, Oct. 15, against Massapequa. Though Port drew first blood, scoring late in the first half, Massapequa was able to come back. The game eventually ended giving the Vikings a 9-1-1 record.

The final game of the week was played on Saturday against Oceanside who also had a 9-1-1 record. Oceanside's Danny Wiliam headed in a corner kick nine minutes into the second half to give them a 1-0 lead over Port. Viking goalie Alvaro Orellana made five impressive saves, though, Port's offense came up just short and the game ended in 1-0 Oceanside victory. This loss gave The Vikings' a 9-1-2 record and put them in second place in conference "A".

The Vikings started off this week with an away game on the 14th against New Hyde Park. Port suffered a hard loss as New Hyde Park scored one goal in each half and shut the team out by saving all of the Vikings' 13 shots on-goal. Port's goalie Katharine Garofalo had six saves in the game.

Port faced their next challenge on the 16th when they faced-off against Massapequa. The Vikings' fared just as they did in their previous game, losing 2-0 with one Massapequa goal being scored in each half. Garofalo made an impressive eight saves in this game.
