Elinor J. McCarthy (nee Johnson), formerly of Sands Point, died on Aug. 15, 1999. Wife of the late John J. Sister of the late Elizabeth and Eugene. Sister-in-law of Madeline. Adoptive mother of Marilyn. Grandmother of Stanley, John and Kathleen. Great-grandmother of five. Aunt of Lona. Great-aunt of Theresa. Mass at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 16. Interment Greenfield Cemetery. Henry John "Wolf" Larsen, of Port Washington, died on Oct. 3, 1999. A WWII US Army veteran serving in the European Theater, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Manhasset Bay Sportsmen's Club, VFW Post #1819, American Legion Post #509 and our Lady of Fatima RC Church. Husband of Dolly (nee Carmella Ligeri). Father of Henry C. Larsen III and Laura Iacono. Son of the late Henry and Lillian Larsen. Son-in-law of the late Ben and Anna Ligeri. Father-in-law of Joseph R. Iacono. Grandfather of Sara Ann Iacono. Brother of the late Harriet Peyser and Isabel Schuster. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Roslyn Heights Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery.

Margaret Sommer, 82, longtime resident of Port Washington, died on Oct. 10, 1999 at Calvary Hospital. Mrs. Sommer, known to her friends as Peg, was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII. A sergeant, she served as an air traffic controller in North Carolina. She worked for Pan American Airlines in NY prior to her marriage to the late Gerard Sommer in 1950. Mr. and Mrs. Sommer had resided in Port Washington since 1952. Most recently, Mrs. Sommer was a customer service representative at Publishers Clearing House for many years. Surviving Mrs. Sommer are her daughters, Judy Sommer of Boston and Mary Churchill of Port Washington and her grandchildren, Jerry and Michael.

Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Funeral Chapel, Manhasset. Funeral Mass at St. Peter of Alcantara. Interment Calverton Veterans Cemetery. The family would be most appreciative of donations in lieu of flowers most especially to St. Francis Heart Hospital, Roslyn.
