Sands Point Acts to Further Study New Road
At a meeting of the Sands Point Board of Trustees on Sept. 15, Sands Point residents again publicly aired concerns about the proposed development of Thayer Lane as a new means of access to the Village Club of Sands Point. Residents criticized the board's handling of the matter. Citing a lack of notification and a flawed traffic study, frustrated residents along Forest Drive said the development of Thayer Lane would negatively impact their property values and quality of life.

Hurricane Floyd Leaves Its Mark
Informed that ferocious Hurricane Floyd might pay a visit, Port Washington braced for the worst, and experienced a strong but not devastating storm. Intermittently heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds did, however, leave many uprooted trees, fallen branches, flooding, and power failures in its wake.
