  • NEWS: Budget Re-Vote June 15

    The school board voted 4 to 1 to resubmit the 1999-2000 budget to the voters on Tuesday, June 15. (Board members Bob Scheer and Alan Baer were out-of-town and therefore didn't vote.) Mr. Sussman voted against it because he didn't like certain items in it and felt it should be increased in other areas. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Record Breaking HarborFest This Year

    "We're outgrowing the town dock," said Warren Schein, Port Washington Chamber of Commerce president, as he surveyed the throng of people who attended this year's HarborFest. Over 20,000 turned out for the Dock Day festivities. JP Shields, a founder and this year's HarborFest chairperson, was delighted with this year's interesting menu of well-presented attractions.     Another honor for Rich du Moulin was delivered on April 27. It was endowed by the Commandant of the United States Coast Guard for outstanding support of the coast guard and the maritime community. According to the release he "played and invaluable role in helping the coast guard pursue its marine safety and marine environmental protection missions." FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: PYA Major League Baseball Heats Up

    Brett Friedman allowed only a base on balls in four innings of no-hit, shutout pitching to lead the Rangers to a 7-1 victory over the Oakland A's. Willie Hanlon and John Slaney set the tone for the Rangers' offense with two RBIs apiece and Mike Ajello continued his hot hitting with a pair of safeties.
