School Board Responds to Littleton Massacre
At their first board meeting since the tragic events at Columbine High School in Colorado, board members and administration officials spoke about this horrifying tragedy. Offering a personal reaction, School Board President Robert Scheer led the discussion by saying, "I am touched and shaken up by this tragedy."

Board Adopts Proposed $70.9 Million '99-00 Budget
The Board of Education adopted a $70,944,153 million budget for the 1999-2000 fiscal year. It is an increase of 3.65 percent over the current year's budget of $68,444,885. The final proposed budget has been trimmed down and is less than the initial one proposed at the first budget workshop in February, which was $71,709,158.

4th Grade LaX Thrillers Lose 6-5 to Manhasset, Win 5-4 Over CSH
In what appears to be becoming a weekly event, the PYA fourth grade 'Blue' lacrosse team has been playing on par against extremely talented teams in what is the most competitive fourth grade lacrosse division on Long Island.

On the Bay
At the request of the Charleston YC, Sue Miller, Sally Lorson and Bob Prokop served as members of the race committee for the Charleston YC Race Week. Sue was the principal race officer (PRO), Sally was stationed on the race committee boat and Bob manned one of the mark boats. The weather was windy, cold and rainy -- conditions similar to frostbiting on our bay. The wind was so strong that skippers and crew sailed in Charleston Harbor, rather in the ocean as has been the tradition. There was little damage to participating boats and no one was injured during the regatta, thanks, in part, to the expertise of the members of the R/C who participated from our bay.
