  • NEWS: Board Member Suggests Alternate Facilities Plan

    For a few reasons, school board member Dean Nardone proposed an alternate facilities plan at the school board's regular meeting on April 13. His plan includes expanding and renovating Weber into a 1,200 student middle school (6-8), five K-5 schools which includes Salem at a 500 student enrollment, and Schreiber expansions and renovations.   • NEWS: DeJana Discrepancies Focus of M'Haven Meeting

    The lack of enforcement by the Tomlinson-PIC Party administration of the Supreme Court's eminent domain decision handed down in April of 1998 which would remove DeJana Industries from a strip of land, 1/10 of an acre that is part of lot 7 was again discussed at the village's March meeting. Once DeJana is removed from the land, a contract reached between the Town of North Hempstead, which owns it, and the previous village board in 1993 can be completed. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: On The Bay

    White caps on Manhasset Bay, westerly winds blowing 8 - 15 knots, with 18 knots gusts -- weather conditions that provided a challenge for the five teams of frostbiters who sailed eight races on Sunday, April 18. During the first race, one team's shroud snapped sending skipper and crew home for the day. Another team cracked their boom, found a replacement boom, completed the next six races, and came in third for the day. There was no crew race due to the high winds. FULL STORY
