Louise Marra, known to many as "Lou Dell," died on Jan. 12, 1999 at Huntington Hospital. Born and raised in Port Washington, she was married to her husband, Al, at St. Peter's Church and raised her two children in Port Washington. Mr. Marra died on 1985 after a marriage of 47 years. She was an active, energetic, regal lady who was truly an inspiration to young and old. Louise was very much loved and will be dearly missed by her children, Judy and Mario and her grandchildren, Bobby, Vincent and Stephen. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Funeral Mass at St. Peter of Alcantara Church on Jan. 16. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery. Marie E. (Wilson) Dowd, 87, of Northfield, MA, died Jan. 13, 1999 at the Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, MA. She was born in NYC on May 14, 1911, the daughter of William J. and Nora (Moran) Wilson. She was educated in the NY Public School System. She was married to J. Raymond Dowd in June 1939. Mr. Dowd predeceased her in 1985. She lived for many years in Port Washington and was a member of St. Peter's Church and of its guild. She moved to Northfield in 1991 to be with her daughter and become a member of St. Patrick's Church in Northfield. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She is survived by two daughters, Jane Naeder of NY and Eileen Dowd of Northfield; one grandchild; and one stepgrandchild. Arrangements were made by the Kidder Funeral Home, Northfield. There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Patrick's Church in Northfield at a later date which will be announced. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made in her memory to the American Red Cross, 9 Devens St., Greenfield, MA 01301 or to St. Patrick's Church, 80 Main St., Northfield, MA 01360.

Dr. Judith Kestenberg (nee Silberfrenning), 88, of Sands Point, died on Jan. 16, 1999. Born in Tarnov, Poland, she studied medicine, psychiatry and neurology in Vienna, Austria and graduated from the NY Psychoanalytic Institute in 1943.

She began study of body movement in order to develop a person's psychological profile. In 1975, Dr. Kestenberg wrote the first of her books Children and Parents and she started the Children Development Research Center in Sands Point. She spearheaded the International Study of the Organized Persecution of Children project in 1981 through her research organization. The center has closed but the research organization continues. She wrote more than 150 scholarly articles and received the American Jewish Congress' Eleanor Roosevelt Award and the Holocaust Memorial Award from the NY Society of Clinical Psychologists.

Dr. Kestenberg was the wife of the late Milton Kestenberg. She is survived by her children, Janet Kestenberg Amighi and Willam. Arrangements were made by the Riverside Memorial Chapel, Manhattan. Donations can be made, in Dr. Kestenberg's memory, to Child Development Research, 30 Soundview Ln., Sands Point, NY 11050.
