    When Schreiber High School principal Dr. Sid Barish, teachers Phyllis Serfaty and Elaine Labrocca, and a group of students clustered around the computer last week, what they read on the Web made them burst in shouts of elation, and jubilant grins. They were celebrating the announcement that an extraordinary eight Schreiber high school students had been named Intel Semifinalists in their national Science Talent Search. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Lady Vikings Basketball Dominates

    The girls varsity basketball team faced a bold challenge this week against Carey. Port, who has had a strong season, has not yet faced Carey and knew that it would be a difficult team. Carey's starters were very tall, with an average height of six feet. The average height of Port's starters is 5'6". Port knew going into the game that in order for them to win, they would have to prevent second shots and grab all the rebounds. FULL STORY

    The GMC Yukon Yachting Key West Race Week, with a record-sized fleet of 274 boats representing 34 states and 17 countries, completed eight races from Monday, Jan. 18 to Friday, Jan. 22. The wind conditions varied greatly throughout the week: Monday and Tuesday brought puffy and shifty breeze blowing from 6 to 10 knots followed by strong, 20-plus-knot winds from the southeast and 4-foot seas on Thursday and Friday.
