Chester B. Wrobel, of Port Washington, died on Dec. 6, 1998. A WWII veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post #509 PW and St. Hedwig's Catholic War Veterans #882. He was founder of the Polish American Museum, PW, a member of the Polish American Citizens Association Ampola, the Polish American Congress, the Koscivszko Foundation, Knights' of Malta and president general of the Pulaski Foundation. Husband of Regina (nee Zebrowski). Father of John, Wanda Pedersen, Henry and the late Stefan Wrobel. Grandfather of Denise Maestre, John Wrobel Jr., Kayanne, Lloyd and Jennifer Pedersen, Henry Jr. and Dyanna Wrobel. Great-grandfather of Danielle and Michael Maestre. Brother of Stpehanie Palasek. Arrangements were made by the Roslyn Heights Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Hedwig's RC Church. Interment LI National Cemetery. Rosamond DeLong Wells, 83, died on San Marcos, TX on Jan. 12, 1999. For many years Mrs. Wells worked for Publishers Clearing House in Port Washington in the position of front desk receptionist/clerk. She also volunteered her services at New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington, NC and St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn. She was born June 28, 1915 in the Bronx to Edward D. and Rose M.T. Neville Nolan. She is preceded in death by her husband, John B. who died in October 1970 and her sister, Elaine Tucci who died in December 1997. She is survived by one son, John DeLong and his wife Dede of New Hyde Park; one daughter, Susan DeLong and husband Perry Connolly of Austin, TX; one brother, Edward Nolin and wife Thelma of New Rochelle; brother-in-law Eddie Tucci of Larchmont; four grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Pennington Funeral Home. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Manhasset. At the conclusion of the service, friends and family are invited to John's for fellowship.
