Jerome D. Twomey, of Delray Beach, FL formerly of Port Washington and Woodcliff Lake, NJ, died on Jan. 7, 1999 in Delray Beach of Alzheimer's disease. Born in Jersey City, the son of the late Jerome and May Twomey, he was educated at St. John's University and City College of NY. He was also a graduate of the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University.

Mr. Twomey was a career banker in the NYC area, holding senior management positions at the Franklin National Bank before becoming president and CEO of the Sterling National Bank in NYC in 1973. He was director of the Standard Prudential Corp. and the McCrory Corp. and was a trustee of Newton College of the Sacred Heart. He was recipient of man of the year awards from the Anti-Defamation League and the Textile Veterans Association. He was a member of the following clubs: 475, Equire, Union League, Manhattan Marco Polo and the N. Hempstead County Club.

Mr. Twomey is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Eileen Towmey of Delray Beach; his sister, Claire Dunne of Ridgewood, NJ; his four children, Robert Twomey of Barrington, RI, Diane Berk of Glencoe, IL, Carol Hafer of Port Washington and Brian Twomey of Ossining, NY; and by 12 grandchildren.

Arthur Abelman, a resident of Port Washington for 31 years, died on Jan. 7, 1999. He was a Navy veteran and a graduate of Fordham Law School. Mr. Abelman worked for Colonial Sand & Stone Co. in NYC for 25 years and was on the NAMI/Queens Nassau board of directors for 17 years. He recently served on various committees for the Central Nassau Guidance Association. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lucille Juliano Abelman; and his two children.
