By Louise T. Haney
MBYC's 20th Fall Series ended with a beautiful slide show by Kevin Dailey (Sunday, Oct. 25). Quite a number of us attending well remember the Series' early days. John Thomson, who with his family this year has sailed Solution in Class B IMS (after sailing in the Farr 40 regatta the weekend before) recalled that there had been 13 entries in the Fall Series' first year (1979). Optimists were considering 30 boats a good goal.
Kevin's show was in two parts. The second part covered several years back and is a tribute to Roger Shope whose Resolute was on the final slide.
There has been little work time between the close of the 20th Fall Series and Monday morning's deadline. Details about the presentation of awards and expressions of appreciation for the dedicated service that made it all possible will be carried next time.
