The formal hearing on the 1999 PWPD budget will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m at Police Headquarters.
A public hearing on the Sprint proposal will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. at PWPD Headquarters.
The next regularly scheduled PWPD business meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m.
Barbara Faticone and Roy Smitheimer, co-chairs of the Tenth Pride in Port Celebration, remind all residents that this year's event will be held the weekend of Oct. 16, 17 and 18. Efforts to maintain and enhance the quality of life for Nassau County residents is at the heart of Nassau County's Comprehensive plan which will be the subject of discussion at two formal public hearings. The public hearings have been scheduled by the Nassau County Planning Commission for the following dates and locations:
Date: Thursday, Sept. 24, 7:30 p.m. at Hempstead Village Hall located at 99 Nichols Court, Hempstead; and,
Date: Monday, Sept. 28, 7:30 p.m. at the Meeting Room of the Nassau County Legislature, located at One West Street, Mineola. Information may be obtained by calling Scott Howell at the Nassau County Planning Department at 571-5822.
Ann M. Galante, North Hempstead Receiver of Taxes, recommends that seniors enroll in the "Third Party Notification Program." The program allows seniors to designate another person to receive copies of their property-tax bills.
The Third-Party Program gives peace of mind to seniors," said Receiver Galante.
Seniors age 65 or over who own and occupy their home are eligible. To obtain an application, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Ann M. Galante, Receiver of Taxes, 200 Plandome Rd., Manhasset, NY 11030.
The Town of North Hempstead will hold a Back to School Forum in the Town Board Room on Monday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. Members of the Nassau County Police Department will be present to discuss safety issues and provide tips on maintaining the safey of school children. The Town Board Room is located on the second floor of Town Hall at 220 Plandome Road, Manhasset. All are welcome to attend this worthwhile event.
