Study Linking Cancer to Landfill Raises Questions
Although August is usually a laid back month, many Port residents were aroused to a panic on August 21 when Newsday reported that a New York State Department of Health (NYS-DOH) study "found that women living near landfills were at an elevated risk for two kinds of cancer" - leukemia and bladder cancer.

The 1998 Morgan Cup Regatta was held at MBYC on Saturday, Aug. 29. Three races sailed. Wind: west 5-10 knots. Blue Jays. Six teams (six boats) competed, two from each of three clubs: Indian Harbor, MBYC and Seawanhaka.
