School Tax Rate Increase Higher Than Expected
Usually, at the August Board of Education Tax Levy meeting, the percentage of increase in the school budget to homeowners that was approved by the voters in the May budget vote remains fairly close to the figure initially estimated during the preparation of the budget.

"We have an unusually high cancer rate here in the Village of Port North," said Port North Mayor Tom Pellegrino, as he explained, in part, the village's opposition to a request by Bell Atlantic to erect a 130 foot cellular monopole in Port North.

139 boats...Yes! 139 powerboats participated in the Second Annual Lincoln Harbor Yacht Club Poker Run '98 on Saturday, June 20, up the Hudson River, NYC. This is the largest powerboat gathering so far this year.

The Awards Ceremony for MBYC's Annual Race Week Regatta on Sunday, Aug. 16, was a happy one. There was a welcome comfortable breeze, unfortunately too late for Sunday racing. But, as there had been good racing on Friday and Saturday, people were satisfied. Number of competitors: 101.
