As the reports of junior activities (1998) are studied, one notes "our bay" surnames of a generation or two ago appearing elsewhere, e.g. Hinman at American YC and du Moulin at Larchmont.

On both days, early on the wind was north-northwest, 5-8 knots. On the second day, there was a shift to a good southerly reported as 12-13 knots.

On Saturday (August 8), residents of Manhasset Bay Estates Association enjoyed a very successful party at their beach (not far from the intersection of Plandome Road and Luquer Road). There was a BBQ and for the children, special entertainment. A well-informed member estimated that about 200 people came and went in the 12 - 3 PM period. Ages ranged from 92 years to 16 months. For many of the "new" people, it was a great introduction. The weather was most cooperative.

Around Long Island Regatta - Last week, mention was made of the Dominiques' victory in Div. 4. It has since been learned that Kevin and Vicki Daily of MBYC were among the crew on Mensae, a Swan 51, owned by Erling Kristiansen, that placed second in the IMS Class. (Their boat named "Aqua Duck" is well known, and associated with race committee work.)

The Wall Street Journal of 8/7/98 carries a small reproducation of the "TV beer ad showing drinkers cavorting on a boat." Because of FTC action the ad has been withdrawn.
