Gertrude "Trudy" Ringhofer, 77, of Port Washington, passed away suddenly on June 9, 1998 at St. Francis Hospital. Trudy had resided in New Hyde Park and also Eastport before moving to Port Washington in 1989. She was a member of the PW Senior Citizens, Inc. since 1989 as well as their president for the last two years. Trudy had recently been re-elected to serve another two year term as president. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick J. Ringhofer and her son, Frederick A. Ringhofer. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, June and Jim Patterson of Maryland; daughters and sons-in-law, June and Charlie Lang of Port Washington and Gail and Joe Caldara of Westhampton; her grandchildren, Denise Lang, Kevin and Antoinette Lang of Port Washington, Lori and Mike Franchi of Center Moriches, Lisa and Julio Rosa of Brooklyn, Jimmy and Kelly Dyke of Westhampton; and her great-grandchildren, James Dyke, Miranda Rose, Daniel Franchi and Nicole Lang. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Evelyn Avery Read, 86, of Port Washington, died on June 22, 1998. Wife of Fredrick. Mother of Fredrick Read III and Cynthia Read. Grandmother of Matthew Brewster Read. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Funeral service at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery. Donations can be made, in Evelyn Read's name, to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 9 Carton Ave., Port Washington, NY or Mount Holyoke College, S. Hadley, MA. Dorothy Schwartz Turner, formerly of Port Washington, died on June 21, 1998. Member of the Garden City Golf Club and several bridge groups. Wife of the late Frederick C. Jr. Mother of F. Cort Turner III. Sister of Frances Schwartz Greeley. Aunt of Joel Greeley. Grandmother of Winslow Turner McBride, Elizabeth K. Turner, Abilgail Turner Jeffers, Alexandra Turner, Frederica C. Turner and Frederick Cortez Turner. Great-grandmother of seven. Donations can be made to The Cambridge Homes, 360 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge, MA 02138. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
