Joseph Salerno, 71, formerly of Port Washington, died on Feb. 28, 1998. Husband of Genevieve. Father of Judy Bell, Marlene Sautkulis and Barry Salerno. Grandfather of six. Frank E. Finnegan Jr., of Port Washington, died on March 9, 1998. Husband of Dorothy. Father of Timothy, Michael (Margaret) and Patrick. Grandfather of Christopher, Daniel and Matthew. Brother of Elizabeth Frederick. Uncle of one niece and two nephews. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Chapel, Manhasset. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius RC Church. Julia Cifarelli, 88, of Manorhaven, died on March 10, 1998. Wife of the late Michael Cifarelli. Mother of Nicholas, Frank, Richard and Charles. Grandmother of 12. Great-grandmother of three. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Mass celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery.

Charles W. Tannert, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and avid fisherman, passed quietly away on March 12, 1998 at the age of 59. His wry wit, quiet nature and strong character will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially his wife Noreen and his children Lisa and Chuck. Charlie is also survived by his son-in-law John and three grandkids Ben, Nick and Sam. No matter how hectic life got around him, Charlie always found solace out on the water aboard his 18-foot runabout. With a fishing rod in hand and the sun on his face, Charlie always said, "I love to go fishing, catching something is just a bonus." I'll always treasure our Alaskan adventure, my friend. We'll see you on the other side. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Mass celebrated at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. Interment private.

David C. Carr, 59, of Port Washington, died on March 12, 1998. Owner of DC Electric in Port Washington for over 30 years. Husband of Anna. Father of Maryann Gitters and Eric D. Carr. Brother of Judy Dombrowski, Susan Dawes, John Tierney and Stephen Carr. Son-in-law of John Hoshyla and and son of Edgar. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Service at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
