  • NEWS: D'Amato, PWPD and D.E.A. Announce Receipt

    U.S. Senator Alfonse D'Amato joined members of the Port Washington Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency (D.E.A.) earlier this week to announce that the PWPD has received $2 million in federal asset forfeiture funds stemming from the success of a major money laundering investigation in the New York City and Miami, Florida areas.   • NEWS: Write-In Vote Upsets Incumbent in Village Election

    In what was assumed to be an uncontested village election on March 17 in the Village of Port North for two trustee positions, an unexpected write-in vote elected Ross Altman and ousted incumbent trustee Pat Loveland. Incumbent Bert Goodstadt was returned to office for a two-year term. The results of the vote were: Altman-32 votes; Loveland-20 and Goodstadt-56. As a point of reference, a rough estimate of the number of voters in Port North is 1,600. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship Update

    The local K of C Port Washington Council free throw contest was conducted on Jan. 22 at the Sousa Elementary School. First place winners were Ross Fabbi, Brian Alas, Jonathan Shaoulian, Paul Prudente, Larry Zaccherio, Gavina Vigilis, Jaclyn Zaccherio, Kristina Iannucci and Katie Zebroski. Subsequently, Shaoulian, Prudente, Zaccherio and Zebroski won first place honors at the district competition on Feb. 7 held at St. Hyacinth Parish Gym, Glen Cove. FULL STORY
