The March 1 music program at the Port Washington Library was of the highest quality. Stefan Milenkovich only 21 years old and a winner of many international violin competitions gave a stunning performance. He was accompanied on the piano by Shai Wosner, another great talent. The recital was given in memory of George Shimmerlik, a longtime member of the music council.
How blessed we are in Port Washington to have a dedicated music council whose members bring to the library the most talented young artists of the world.
It was a wonderful seeing young children in the audience to whom one day the name Stefan Milenkovich might be as familiar as Isaac Stern is to our generation. If you have missed the performance of this young artist, he will be playing on April 14 at the 92nd Street Y.
I am looking forward to hearing the McDermott Trio on March 7.
