We care deeply about our children. It is a simple and sincere fact. Emotions are running high over the potential short and longterm space solutions for our schools. We firmly believe that everyones reasons and motivations for speaking out on these issues are for all the right ones "our children." However, we can see by attending school board meetings and reading letters in newspapers, it is easy to come away with distortions between different community groups. At the end of the Feb. 24 school board meeting, we had the opportunity to meet with members of the "Reopen Salem School Committee." In meeting each other, we were glad to come away with the feeling that we had all taken the first step in working toward the long-term space solution together.

There are many long-term solutions being considered. At this time, we wait to hear the architect's proposal, scheduled to be presented at the March 31 school board meeting. We also look forward to keeping an open communication among all community groups as we work toward a long-term space solution for all of our children.
