MalenÇ Dodds, long-time Port Washington resident, died Nov. 25, 1997 following a protracted illness.
She was born MalenÇ Asserson Fletcher in New Rochelle, NY, attended the public school of Annapolis, MD, and graduated from the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia. In her youth, she participated in Little Theatre in Dover, New Jersey. She married Robert Hungerford in 1942. During the early years of their marriage, she resided in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Mexico, Colorado, Illinois and Florida before settling in Port WAshington in 1953.
An immensely private person, she devoted herself to her family, gardening and entetaining in her home, for which she is fondly remembered. She was predeceased by her husband (Nov. 25, 1976) and her sister Antoinette. She is survived by her sister, Faith Linscott of Brunswick, Maine; her daughter Susanna Cobb of Tarrytown, NY; her son Matthew Dodds of Wantagh; and five grandchildren.
