The W-League announced its Team of the Week for Week two of the 2013 season, honoring Long Island Rough Riders Amanda Ferranti and Luisa Echeverry for their great performances in Saturday’s game against the Fredericksburg Impact.
Ferranti played right back for the first time in her Rough Riders career and exceeded all expectations. Not allowing any chances for the opposing forwards, she supported the Rough Riders’ offense and was able to score a goal in the 72nd minute of the game.
Luisa Echeverry was Long Island’s most active attacking player in the opening match, driving down the right flank multiple times and recording two shots on goal in the first half. She gave the assist to Amanda Epstein’s goal in the second minute and added another one herself when Holly Dawson found her in the penalty box in minute 33.
Additionally, Amanda Epstein received an honorable mention by the W-League for her dominant performance on midfield and her continued attacks leading to one goal.
