A local Plainview student wowed officials and won first place at the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair recently.
Hannah Stewart was honored for her research efforts on the Lyme disease tick at Hofstra University with the university’s biology department chairman, Dr. Russell Burke. The research-based project, “Host Preferences of Wild Northern and Southern Lxodes Scapularis,” delves deep into the the complicated world of disease and the human response.
Stewart now advances to compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, California, set for Hannah will advance to compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, California in May.
