Plainview Water District and Girl Scouts Troop 3276 Celebrate Arbor Day

Plainview Water District Commissioners Kevin Langberg and Joel Kessler joined with the Junior Girl Scouts Troop 3276 to celebrate Arbor Day last week in a constructive way - by planting trees. With the desire to protect our environment, the Plainview Water District Commissioners coordinated an event at the Water District headquarters, where the troops planted trees and bushes while learning about Arbor Day and our environment.

While the major focus of this project was to help the environment, it also served as an educational lesson for the Plainview youngsters. “This was an excellent opportunity to educate the community’s children on the importance of water conservation and other environmental concerns,” Plainview Water District Chairman Kevin Langberg stated. “The students were very enthusiastic about the Arbor Day project and attentive to how the trees they planted will positively affect our water supply.”

Commissioners Kevin Langberg, Joel Kessler and Edward Shulroff would like to thank troop leaders Eileen Dershowitz, Patricia Raifer and the girls of Troop 3276 for their tireless efforts on Arbor Day. “We are always looking for opportunities to educate youth groups about the environment and the importance of water conservation,” added Commissioner Joel Kessler. Each troop member took home an official Plainview Water District reusable water bottle.
