Once an overgrown, garbage-filled lot, the corner of Old Country and Central Park roads has been transformed by the Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce into an oasis of flowers, shrubbery, ornaments, whimsy and memories. That place is Serenity Garden.
Landscaped gardens, a pergola and brick paths line Serenity Garden. Plainview’s “Horse of a Different Color,” wearing sneakers, stands guard, watching over Serenity Garden and beckoning residents to come and visit.
Plainview residents should see Serenity Garden as a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It’s also a place of remembrance and honor as the brick paths are engraved with family names, community organizations and businesses.
Residents are encouraged to honor a special occasion with a personalized commemorative brick that will last a lifetime. Chamber President Francesca Carlow said, “It’s a wonderful way to remember a special day or a special person. Stop by and walk around Serenity Garden and enjoy the sights and sounds. Spring is coming soon!”
The Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce invites businesses, organizations and community residents to honor and remember their loved ones with a personalized brick. The chamber of commerce is planning a gala opening for Serenity Garden this summer to celebrate this new oasis.
With the personalized brick, you will always be a permanent part of Plainview-Old Bethpage and you will adorn Serenity Garden with your “remembrances of things past.”
