Upcoming Events At Temple Chaverim

Temple Chaverim is hosting a new member open house Friday, May 2  at 8 p.m. The program includes Shabbat services followed by an extensive Oneg Shabbat. The Temple invites prospective members to take this opportunity to meet their dynamic clergy and innovative education director as well as members of our community.

According to Jody Steifman, member of the Temple Chaverim Membership Committee, Chaverim aims to bring the community closer together.

“We want to get the message to everyone that Chaverim means friends, and Temple Chaverim means community,” she said. “Our members have a variety of programs and activities to choose from, and we hope that everyone will become involved. Join for your children but stay for yourselves.”

And just a little more than one week after the open house, Temple Chaverim will host its third annual Casino and Entertainment Night on Saturday, May 10, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Club Chaverim will include live music and comedy in the “Lucky Chai Lounge,” as well as gaming tables including a game show, blackjack, roulette, craps and Texas Hold’em; all operated by Event Kings.

“We’ve expanded to a Night Club concept which includes musical entertainment with our Temple Chaverim Band,” said Jill Schwartz, the event’s chairperson. “Since the night falls in between the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness we have a Horse Racing theme for the evening. Wear a Kentucky Derby style hat and receive an additional raffle ticket. Join us for a fun evening.”

In addition to the gaming and the live entertainment there will be over 40 valuable raffle baskets. Some of the prizes will include Yankee/Mets tickets, electronics, restaurant and retail store gift certificates plus many more items.

Casino Night is open to the public. The fee for entry is $80 per person, which includes gaming table access, gourmet cocktail-style dinner, desserts and an open bar. All attendees must be 18 years or older and at least 21 to enjoy the open bar.
