The Girls Varsity Softball team had a very exciting and successful season. Their overall record of 8-4 came from a challenging schedule with many hard- fought wins. The workhorse on the mound was junior pitcher Katie Rutcofsky, who pitched in every conference game. Rutcofsky had to pitch several times on back-to-back days and pitched in four extra-inning games- of which three were eight innings, and one was a 10-inning affair.
The team was led by captain Christina Legotti, who has been the captain for the last two years. According to her teammates, Legotti has been the heart and soul of the team. The other graduating seniors are first baseman Ashley Calise and outfielder Rachel Cooper.
The up-and-coming leaders and the backbone of the team in the future will be centerfielder Laura Silver, catcher Tracie Lichtenstein, shortstop Ena Otaka, and left fielder Billie Golan. Also future stars are tenth-graders Michelle Drebsky, Jamie Fishman and Kaitlyn Mertz, as well as ninth-graders Anna Lin and Erica Koplitz.
Congratulations go out to all the girls on a well-played season.
