DACLI Dog Agility Club of Long Island General Meeting

DACLI is a club whose goal is to bring more Companion Dog events—Agility, Obedience, Rally, Tracking—to Long Island.  It is the club’s mission to create matches, trials and other events for dogs and handlers on Long Island. Arch Capital Group Cup Finals

The Arch Capital Group Cup originally had 261 teams competing and is down to the final two teams in each age group. For Under-12 and above, it is for travel soccer teams who are still working to rise to the level of the best teams in each league and is open to all Under-10 and Under-11 teams regardless of skill level. The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association’s sponsor, Arch Capital Group, writes insurance and reinsurance on a worldwide basis through operations in the United States, Bermuda, Canada and Europe, with a focus on specialty lines. The cup finals will be played on Saturday, June 8 at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview.

A fun, interactive class coming up at HANC Plainview for children turning two by Dec. 31. A safe, confidential, supportive environment to talk about what you have been through, reactions and feelings and how to move forward. You are not alone! Facilitated by a professional therapist. Free Veterinary Lectures

Once a month through December, Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. All members of the public are welcome to attend. Sign Language Classes

American Sign Language (ASL) classes will be offered by Mill Neck Services for deaf adults on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 through March 25, 2013. The 10 sessions of the Level 1 Adult class are being held at the Day Habilitation and Interpreter Services building located at 501 S. Broadway, Suite B, Hicksville. •Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family. •Vietnam Veterans Of America (VVA), founded in 1978, is congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. •Introduction To Chemotherapy, a monthly information session for cancer patients who are beginning chemotherapy treatments. Family members are welcome. Refreshments served. Nurses with special training, dietitians and other professionals present information that can help individuals understand, and cope with the effects of chemotherapy treatments. There is also an opportunity to share information with others who may have been through similar situations.
