On Tuesday, March 4, Plainview-Old Bethpage DECA sent 94 students to the New York State DECA Conference in Rochester, NY. Some of the students came to States by winning their regional test and role-play competition at regional competition. Sixty students wrote 30-page business manuals. These students had to give a 10-minute presentation to the states judges.
The State competition did not consist of all work, however. During the day, students were given the opportunity to attend leadership workshops in which they learned to work as a team and meet new people from other parts of New York. At night, there was a DECA dance and a pizza party to entertain the students during their stay. Overall, the trip was a huge success, with Plainview DECA walking away with a lot of fun and a lot of winners. Plainview DECA had 23 winners, who will be attending the International Competition in Atlanta, GA.
