Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) recently honored Francesca Carlow as a recipient of the Nassau County Trailblazers in the New Millennium award as part of Women's History Month.

Francesca Carlow was recently named a recipient of the Nassau County Trailblazers in the New Millennium award as part of Women's History Month.

Many people in Plainview- Old Bethpage refer to Francesca Carlow as Mrs. Trio Hardware but Francesca was born and raised in South Hadley, Massachusetts and graduated from Emerson College with a degree in communications. She worked producing multimedia sales presentations in Manhattan until a blind date introduced her to the world of hardware.

Francesca and her husband Bruce own and operate Trio Hardware. She is the store's bookkeeper and after the birth of their two children she began volunteering on the Board of the Plainview Coop Nursery School. This led to many other committees and meetings including Safenet, POB Athletic Booster Club, Title IX, Student Advisory, POB Bond Issue Task Force and she was a PTA Council Delegate for eight years.

Francesca is currently president of the POB Chamber of Commerce and has worked hard to build and promote small businesses in the local community. She helps organize the Annual Plainview-Old Bethpage Memorial Day Parade and works with Nassau County and Town of Oyster Bay community leaders on projects from Hurricane Preparedness to Next Generation Housing. Francesca is also the Recording Secretary for the Nassau County Chamber of Commerce representing over 40 local towns and cities throughout Nassau.

Francesca has said that she loves the fact that she is lucky to live, work and play in Plainview- Old Bethpage.

The Nassau County Legislature's "Women Trailblazers" awards ceremony looks to highlight and recognize the extraordinary work of women throughout the county.
