Plainview Water District Commissioner Ed Shulroff was honored by the Long Island Water Conference at its Jan. 28 meeting for serving as the 2007 LIWC chairman. Shulroff's dedication to the water conference was recognized by his successor, Chairman Ken Claus.

Shulroff has been a member of the LIWC for eight years. Prior to serving as chairman, he served as first vice chairman and continues to serve on the Board of Directors. The water conference is composed of water suppliers, both public and private, across Long Island that hold extensive knowledge about the water supply. Shulroff has been a commissioner for the Plainview Water District for eight years. During his time with the water district, Shulroff has particularly focused on the unchecked land development that is impacting upon the water services and community's precious resources.
Shulroff is an independent businessman and his community activities include 28 years of service with the Boy Scouts of America, 17 years as leader of Troop 13 in Plainview . He has also been a member of several respected organizations including the Jewish War Veterans, the Marine Corps League - Sunrise Detachment and the Plainview Jewish Center. He has received numerous awards for his dedicated community service including the President's Scout Masters Award of Merit and the Knights of Pythius Award for assisting the youth of Plainview-Old Bethpage.
Shulroff resides in Plainview with his wife, Marsha, and takes great pride in contributing toward Long Island 's excellent water supply.
