"We are thrilled with the results," said Board of Commissioners Chairman Joel Kessler. "Not only will the new treatment system be a valuable tool for protecting our precious water supply, but the new building and external landscaping are major aesthetic improvements that will help the facility blend in to the beautiful neighborhood surrounding it."
The board of commissioners welcomed dignitaries from state and local government for the July 27 ribbon cutting ceremony. Honored guests included Assemblyman Charles Lavine, Town of Oyster Bay Council members Anthony Macagnone and Rose Marie Walker, Town Clerk Steve Labriola and Receiver of Taxes Jim Stefanich. Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs also presented the commissioners with a citation commemorating the event and their continued dedication to the people of the Plainview-Old Bethpage area.
The Plant 2 facility supplies two million gallons of water per day to over 10,000 households in the Plainview Water District.
