Over 120 supporters and friends of the Mid-Island Y Jewish Community Center in Plainview turned out for a strikingly special night on Saturday, Nov. 4, to support programs and services for children with special needs and their families. Held at AMF Syosset Lanes, the JCC's first-ever "Bowling for KISS Classic" raised over $15,000 to benefit The K.I.S.S. (Kids In Special Services) Center.
After winning the mid-Atlantic regional title at the Siemens Westinghouse Math, Science and Technology Competition in the team category over the weekend, Plainview-Old Bethpage student Jinju Yi was named a national finalist in the competition. She was one of two students from Long Island named national finalists. The announcement puts the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District in the unique category of sending students to the national finals two years in a row.
