H.B. Mattlin Middle School in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District recently welcomed a new principal to the building. Dean L. Mittleman, formerly of the Lynbrook Public Schools, began his career with the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District this year. "I feel very fortunate to be joining such a well respected school district and community," said Mittleman. "Plainview-Old Bethpage is unique in many ways, it has a strong educational staff coupled with a community that values education; that combination breeds success in students."

Mittleman has his Bachelor of Science in physical education, a Master of Science in health education, a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration, and is a Doctoral candidate in Leadership and Policy Studies at Hofstra University. He is a member of a number of professional associations including the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the National Middle School Association.
