The Arson/Bomb squad recently reported the details of a fire that occurred in Plainview on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 5:05 p.m.
According to detectives, a fire originated in the rear of 542 Woodbury Road and damaged three adjoining stores. Syosset Fire Department responded and with an assistance of approximately 150 firefighters from several other departments, including Plainview, Jericho, Hicksville, Bethpage, Glenwood Landing, Melville, Roslyn, Oyster Bay and Cold Spring Harbor, were able to get the fire under control.
Four firemen from the Syosset Fire Department suffered injuries included an injured finger, laceration to right eye, smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion and were all transported to North Shore Hospital in Plainview. One fireman from the Jericho Fire Department suffered chest pains and was transported to St. Francis hospital in Roslyn for evaluation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb squad.
