Among the highlights of the June 20 meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club was the presentation of one of the two annual $2000 Herb Grayson Memorial Scholarships to Robert A. J. Eslick of Old Bethpage, a senior at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School. The award was presented to Robert by Herb's widow Betty Grayson, GLIRC Scholarship Chair Erica Gassen, and GLIRC Scholarship Committee Member Paul Englehart. The meeting was held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library.
The Eslick family has long been known for its outstanding record of community service as well as its years of association with the Running Club and the Kids Helping Kids organization that Robert and his family founded. The club was proud and pleased to present this scholarship to Robert.
The Greater Long Island Running Club's annual Scholarship Program, with its emphasis on service to the Long Island running community and its tribute to the memory of GLIRC's own Herb Grayson, will gratefully accept any donations anyone may care to make. Call Linda at the GLIRC office at 349-7646.
