In appreciation for participating in their Arbor Day celebration, Plainview Water District Commissioners Kevin Langberg, Joel Kessler, and Edward Shulroff recently presented third-graders in Lorraine Cullen's class at Pasadena Elementary School with photo memorabilia. On Arbor Day, Ms. Cullen and her class joined the commissioners in planting trees at the water district's Plant 4 facility. The trees that the water district selected were planted to help make our water cleaner and safer for drinking.
While the major focus of this project was to help the environment, it also served as an educational lesson for the Plainview youngsters. The commissioners took the opportunity to conduct an educational discussion on our water supply and the need for water conservation.
"My fellow commissioners and I enjoy coordinating programs for the children of our community," said Commissioner Langberg. "In order to ensure that our water conservation initiative is successful in the future, we must convey our message to our younger residents. The energy and enthusiasm that they show is infectious. It's always interesting listening to the questions and answers they have regarding our water supply."
