This Tuesday, May 16, qualified Plainview-Old Bethpage School District residents will be eligible to vote on the proposed 2006-2007 school budget. Voting will take place between 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Jamaica Avenue School, Old Bethpage School and Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School.

The total budget increase between the proposed budget and the current budget is 6.25 percent or $6,524,003.

"Plainview-Old Bethpage residents have historically taken great pride in the district's schools and have supported the district's budget. We want you to know that we do not take this support for granted. The board, administration and staff are constantly working to identify more efficiencies, engage in cooperative bidding for goods and services to keep costs down, and do more with less," said Superintendent Martin Brooks in a recent statement.

Voting will take place between 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Jamaica Avenue School, Old Bethpage School and Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School on Tuesday, May 16.
