The Plainview-Old Bethpage Herald's February 3 issue contained an article with the headline "Water District Commissioners Warn Migrating Residents to Check Their Pipes Before Leaving for the Winter."

Newsday's Feb. 5 issue contained an article about New York State's list of 421 "toxic sites", saying that 14 of them were in Plainview. The story quoted Paul Granger, superintendent of the Plainview Water District, as saying: "We were aware of issues surrounding the water quality for quite some time and took the initiative to correct it immediately. When we noticed the water quality was diminishing, we put treatment systems in place. The water is absolutely safe to drink."

I am wondering if and when Superintendent Granger ever informed/warned you, the Plainview Herald or us, the public that lives and drinks the water in Plainview, about the "diminishing water quality" he refers to.

After all, the same Newsday story also says that the State Assembly's Environmental Conservation Committee "stressed that the state agencies need to make sure residents and businesses have full and timely information about contaminants".
