There was snow, excitement and many happy faces at the annual Plainview-Old Bethpage Christmas Tree lighting ceremony hosted by the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. K-JOY radio was on hand to give out candy canes, local dignitaries spoke, the children of Good Shepherd School performed and once again the Chorus of Plainview - Old Bethpage High School roused everyone with stirring renditions of holiday favorites. After a community sing of "Joy to the World" the hundreds of spectators who braved the cold snowy night counted down to the lighting of our community tree, a beacon of peace and unity in this most blessed of seasons.
