Ronelle Hershkowitz, principal of Parkway School in the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District, spearheaded a district-wide collection to help those affected by hurricane Katrina. Hershkowitz worked closely with PTA president, Bruce Gould who is in charge of relocating Nassau County victims of natural disasters. Together, they organized a district-wide collection which, thanks to the generosity of both students and staff in the district, raised over $15,000 for victims.

"I'm so proud of our coordinated efforts and the incredibly generous donations we received for the victims of hurricane Katrina," Hershkowitz has said. "We in Plainview-Old Bethpage always try to help those people experiencing hardships during their times of need."
