For your edification our Neighbor-to-Neighbor Watch Program's goal is to help reduce crime in our neighborhood while working toward sustaining our quality of life. We are accomplishing this through the use of the Internet as a mode of centralized communications, traditional methods of neighbors watching out for one another and the use of window decals as visual deterrents. Our focus is to utilize the centralized email network to share information about any unusual behavior, community news or dangerous conditions in the community, i.e.: roads, street lights, etc. The aforementioned information is distributed in addition to the timely dissemination of NCPD-Security Police Information Network (NCPD-SPIN) alerts. With residents living such active lives, online communications will enable them to remain in touch and receive information via the Internet, while at home, at work or traveling. Another advantage of the centralized approach is the ability to forward community-wide tips, trends and concerns to the proper authority, whether it be town, county, state or federal government, local law reinforcement, etc.

As crime has no borders, as a community we are trying to keep abreast of trends and happenings to stay ahead of the curve. To make the program effective, our objective is to recruit as many households as possible to participate in the email network; have neighbors adopt residents who may not be online to share information, and to display window decals. The more households utilizing the decals, the stronger the visual message that we are a vigilant community working together.

A strong component of any program is education and training. To that extent, to help our resident identify and report suspicious behavior, take steps to protect their home and loved ones, we will be sponsoring educational programs kindly provided by the NPD. In conclusion, as our community-wide program has been tailored to fit the needs of our active residents' lifestyles, we are hoping for community-wide participation.
